The simultaneous use of the precise iris lens control (P-Iris) with exposure time and gain control secures perfect image quality in all lighting conditions, even under triggered applications. This allows reliable applications in outdoor scenarios, without missing incidents. The additional support for DC auto-iris enables the use of economic lenses from the security sector.
Allied Vision Prosilica GT
GigE Vision camera for extreme environments
The Allied Vision Prosilica GT camera series is a compact camera developed especially for use in harsh industrial environments and outdoor applications. With an innovative internal thermal design the Prosilica GT cameras work reliably even at extreme temperatures ranging from -20 °C to +65 °C.
The cameras are equipped with highly sensitive Exview CCD sensors from Sony, fast and high quality global shutter CMOS sensors from Sony and CMOSIS/ams as well as high resolution CMOS sensors from ON Semiconductor and the new Sony IMX Pregius for the GT series Large Format cameras.
They offer resolutions from 1 to 31 megapixels, and are equipped with a GigE Vision interface with Power over Ethernet (PoE) functionality. The Prosilica GT series incorporates both colour and monochrome models, including CMOS variants with increased infrared sensitivity.
Reasons to choose the Allied Vision Prosilica GT
Support for the Precision Time Protocol (IEEE 1588) provides synchronisation of cameras and other system components via a PTP compatible Ethernet network. This includes time stamps, free running exposures and pre-emptive single shot exposures. The chunk data feature transmits metadata with the images such as gain and exposure settings, as well as the AOI settings. Image optimisation features include gamma correction and look-up tables (LUT), reducing the load on the host computer. These features help to avoid costly and complex hardware solutions thanks to the reduced hardware requirements for synchronisation.
GigE Vision action commands enable broadcasting a trigger signal to multiple GigE Vision cameras at almost the same time. Therefore, action commands are more precise than a generic software trigger. If a vision application requires a particularly fast reaction to a trigger signal, action commands can be used. As a result, multi-camera systems can be engineered with less components and cables. Using state-of-the-art features in system design provides a technology advantage compared to competitors.
Look-up tables make it easy to perform preprocessing operations such as remapping of pixel values to other pixels, applying gamma to a particular colour or highlighting a specific intensity value. By modifying certain gray values or binarizing images, information in the image can be reduced in the camera, which relieves the CPU and minimises the data to transmit.
Thanks to the high operating temperature range from -20 °C to 65 °C, a vision system can be designed for ambient temperatures, with less effort and expense for active cooling, while remaining less prone to failures. While superior product quality is a competitive advantage per se, more reliable solutions also result in less service calls and maintenance.
System integration is made easier for the Prosilica GT with both TTL and opto-isolated I/O built into the camera, along with serial standard protocol RS232 to connect to peripheral controllers.
The Prosilica GT cameras with high resolution Sony IMX Pregius CMOS sensors leverage high-resolution imaging systems to the next-level. With resolutions up to 31.4 megapixel at varied aspect ratios, versatile high-definition imaging applications can be addressed with demanding requirements on robustness and design-in flexibility.
