More than 8,700 visitors came to Stuttgart to attend VISION 2014 - despite a German railway Deutsche Bahn strike on the last day of the show. This is an increase of about 25 percent on the last event in 2012. According to Thomas Walter, Head of Industry & Technology at Messe Stuttgart, it is particularly encouraging that the number of international visitors interested in the VISION show has increased further: „In 2012 we had only 36 percent of foreign visitors, this time 42 percent came from a total of 54 countries.” This positive development could be clearly noted at the STEMMER IMAGING stand, too. Employees from all eleven countries, where the company is represented with own offices, discussed the latest innovations and projects with their local customers even more than at previous VISION shows.
On the technical side, 3D imaging was one of the major issues at this year's VISION. In addition to a variety of 3D innovations presented at various stands this year's VISION Award, granted by the British magazine Imaging and Machine Vision Europe (IMVE) for applied machine vision, went to Odos Imaging Ltd. for the development of a high-resolution vision system based on a pulsed 3D time-of-flight imaging method. STEMMER IMAGING is well established in this segment thanks to the 3D cameras from our partners Automation Technology and LMI, the powerful 3D software tools available with Common Vision Blox, the 3D algorithms of Aqsense and all other components required for the development of high-performance machine vision systems.
Selecting the optimal interface has been one of the most important decisions to take when defining a machine vision system. Against this background, it is not surprising that this topic was again one of the most discussed issues at VISION 2014. Since the resolution and recording speed of industrial cameras continues to increase, the constantly growing data volumes require continuously faster interfaces to transfer the recorded image data at the required speed. Thanks to the support for all current interfaces, including USB3 Vision, CoaXPress and CameraLink HS as well as to the active participation in the development of interfaces in the responsible committees, STEMMER IMAGING is able to offer independent consulting and the required product range. In this way, our customers benefit from a reduced development time, and they can be sure to obtain the technically and economically most appropriate system for their application.
Image pre-processing and data processing on the graphic card are alternative ways to handle the recorded data volumes in a timely manner. And here again, STEMMER IMAGING is one of the technology leaders, offering its customers state of the art vision systems.
At VISION our partner Gardasoft presented the new Triniti concept. This novel approach to lighting control provides non-expert users access to expert machine vision lighting techniques to create, configure and commission vision systems with LED lighting without the risk of damaging the lights. STEMMER IMAGING was a Triniti development partner and provided a special graphical interface based on the machine vision software Common Vision Blox (CVB). The presentation of this new technology, where CCS, Smart Vision Lights, Teledyne DALSA have also significantly contributed, was another highlight at VISION 2014.
Regarding this year’s VISION show STEMMER IMAGING’s conclusion is exceedingly positive: „The quality and the quantity of our visitors and the diversity of represented industries was extremely gratifying“, Managing Director Christof Zollitsch is delighted to report. „The new biennial cycle corresponds with the industry’s innovation cycle much better than the previous annual schedule.“
From the perspective of show organiser Messe Stuttgart, Thomas Walter summarises: „The result of this year's VISION has far exceeded our expectations and clearly underlines its position as the leading international machine vision trade fair." The date for VISION 2016 has already been fixed: It will be opening its doors from November 8 to 10, 2016.
