The visible (400 to 700 nm) and the NIR (700 to 1000 nm) spectral ranges offer numerous applications. However, the SWIR spectral range (950 to 1700 nm) allows imaging of chemical features that are impossible to detect with lower wavelength bands. Another advantage is that SWIR can penetrate the surface of many materials with some microns, which makes the detection of features in your inspection object possible that might not work without SWIR.
Teledyne DALSA Linea SWIR
GigE Vision InGaAs line scan camera
The Teledyne DALSA Linea SWIR represents the latest development in InGaAs line scan cameras. The GigE Vision camera features a cutting-edge InGaAs line sensor making it ideal for industrial use. The series is available in 512 pixel (25 µm) and 1024 pixel (12.5 µm) resolutions, delivering high speed and high sensitivity SWIR images while maintaining cost effective equipment.
The compact, lightweight and robust camera is packed with attractive features, including cycling mode with multiple user configuration sets, fully fledged flat-field correction, programmable GPIO, HDR mode for high dynamic imaging and Gigabit Ethernet technology supporting GigE Vision with precise time protocol (PTP) and Power over Ethernet (PoE).
The SWIR is the ideal choice for applications which require detection of material properties invisible to the human eye.
Reasons to select the Teledyne DALSA Linea SWIR
Cycling mode implements a method to use various different user-controlled configurations. This means that you can work with different light sources, lighting angles, exposure times, gains etc. for every line. This way, a single pass with a single camera delivers a high amount of information which is comparable to that of multiple cameras or combinations of camera and frame grabber. With this feature, costly and complex hardware solutions can be avoided, since e.g. multiple illumination variants of the same object increase failure detection and production security. It can also reduce inspection time in cases where various illumination set-ups are mandatory to inspect one object.
For scenes with very bright and very dark parts within the field of view, the Linea SWIR comes with a HDR mode extending the dynamic range of the camera significantly. SWIR is invisible to the human eye, making it very difficult estimating the dynamic range of a scene just visually, the HDR mode gives you the extra confidence to solve your application.
Precise time protocol (PTP) is an Ethernet protocol which allows the synchronization of several cameras as well as precise triggering via GigE without the need for a further trigger cable. This way, you can easily perform stereo line scan applications or applications that require multiple cameras at one inspection object at the same time.
The small and light-weight housing allows the design of compact camera solutions. The integration into existing systems with restricted space availability for machine vision components is simplified. The Linea SWIR cameras provide Power over Ethernet (PoE), making additional power supplies and power supply cables unnecessary. This not only saves space but also reduces the risk of failing components.
Should you require more than just triggering via GigE by using the PTP feature of the camera, you can easily switch to the powerful I/O interface of the camera. It features the standard connector you know from the Genie Nano series and comes with 2 programmable inputs and 2 programmable outputs.
