Colour space conversion
The RGB-format is often only available as Bayer mosaic that needs to be transformed into an RGB image. If detailed colour analysis is required, the image is normally converted to an alternative colour space which is better at representing colours for computer analysis.
There are a number of these alternative colour formats such as HSV (left), and HSL (right), separating colour information from saturation and brightness.
The three images below show different variants of the CIE (Commission Internationale d'Eclairage) colour space allowing additional colour metric evaluations.
