Intelligent lighting - Part 3
To help explain the benefits of this technology, we’ve divided it into 3 parts:
INTEGRATION - LIVE DATA - CONTROL
The TRINITI™ chip stores the make, model and serial number of the light as well as a weblink to its documentation
SDK kits mean that you can tap straight into it to create your own solution
Each light can have it’s own name, so it’s easy to understand what’s where
Standard M12 connectors ease connecting everything up. Whilst the GeniCam / GigE compliancy mean its immediately accessible in your chosen vision platform
The vision utility provides key information in a single diagram for easy set up. You can even control the lights from within your image processing software
Settings are seamlessly migrated across to new lights and user interfaces
Predictive warnings can be set so that users can prepare for replacements, with minimal disruption
Real time image feedback (within the same interface) as settings are changed
Using the brightness of the camera image, it is possible to create a software feedback loop to adjust for long term variations in lighting brightness
The total amount of time that the light has been operational
Users are protected when making any adjustments to settings with warnings of any adverse effects
Dynamic lighting information can be stored and quickly recalled (eg - unique settings for different products)
Any setting changes made to the light are logged
The time that the LEDs are actually “on” and what temperature they’re operating at
Each light can have a unique name (to assist with data logging)
MAXIMUM & SAFE OVERDRIVING / STROBING
LEDs are current (not voltage) driven. The controller automatically knows what the light’s maximum current is because the overdrive profile is stored in the light. It also knows the temperatures of the lights so it can turn them off if they’re too hot.
MONITORED LIGHT OUTPUT
As we mentioned in the previous part of this series, the software can check the intensity of the image and provide feedback to the controller for any adjustments
Light data can be associated to databases so that each time a light setting is made for a product variant, it is stored in the associated database. The parameters are then automatically retrieved when the variant is detected in the process
