High performance image acquisition and processing boards for PCIe Gen2 platforms

The Xtium series is engineered to meet the ever-increasing image resolution and faster frame rates of today's camera technology. They are a reliable and versatile family of frame grabbers with the most popular camera interface standards CoaXPress, CameraLink and CameraLink HS.

Building on the field proven capability of previous Teledyne DALSA’s frame grabber series, the Xtium is based on industry standard PCI Express x4 and x8 Gen 2.0 bus to deliver high speed access to host memory.

The onboard Data Transfer Engine (DTE) produces maximum bandwidth without the need for specialized motherboards or chipsets. By enabling maximum sustained throughput and ready-to use image data, the Xtium minimises CPU usage and improves processing times for the host application. In addition, the Xtium series has been engineered with enhanced memory architecture allowing it to handle different sensor tap topologies while sustaining colour decoding at the maximum frame/line rate

The acquisition of digital image sources via CoaxPress, CameraLink or CameraLink HS ensures the availability of various models with different configuration options and interfaces, supporting future scalability. The hardware effort required for synchronization and multi-processing can be reduced, leading to a design head start and thus a competitive advantage of your machine vision solution.

The Xtium-CL supports all Camera Link configurations

The Camera Link configurations are field-configurable –Base, Dual Base, Medium, Full and 80-bit (“Deca”) by simply loading a different configuration file. This helps by reducing the effort for system set up and development and by reducing storage requirements by having just one model in stock – minimising the effort for service and repairs - a considerable cost saving

Multi board configurations for multi camera applications (CLHS version only)

The data-forwarding feature of the Xtium-CLHS boards refers to a built-in repeater capability to resend images across multiple computers for distributed processing at 2.1GB/s. The incoming images can be redistributed to up to six (6) additional Xtium-CLHS “slave” frame grabbers.

Thanks to the "board synchronisation" features and data forwarding, multi-camera solutions can be developed and the higher material throughput enables more accurate error detection. The two CLHS models within the family enable different configuration possibilities and interface support the scalability. The hardware complexity for synchronisation and multi-processing can be reduced, resulting in a design and competitive advantage with the inspection solution.

Trigger-to-Image Reliability (T2IR) framework

T2IR ensures the image capture process is controlled and monitored from the trigger point right the way through to the transfer onto the host memory.

T2IR is a combination of hardware and software features that work together at a system level to improve the reliability of the inspection system.

This prevents many errors before they happen and makes the system more reliable, which in turn delivers more uptime, more productivity, and lower costs.
