3CCD cameras require specific lenses that do not interfere with the optical arrangement within them. The camera uses a special prism to split the light into the three main colours red, green and blue.
The lens is constructed to ensure that it does not dip too far into the camera. Furthermore, the lens has high colour correction, specially balanced to ensure it meets the requirements of the different optical paths with the prism system.
