Many machine vision applications require images of very small objects to be captured at distances of only a few centimetres. Standard lenses are not always suitable for this type of application. By contrast, Schneider Kreuznach's precision lenses are perfectly suited to these situations because they are corrected for close-up work and benefit from low levels of image distortion.
For technical reasons, Schneider Kreuznach's Componon and Apo-Componon precision lenses are not built with a focussing mechanism, so when these lenses are used for image capture they require an additional focussing mechanism. To this end, Schneider developed the Unifoc 12 focussing system which allows lens adjustment to suit any application.
