By providing maximum sustained throughput and ready-to-use image data, the Xtium2 series minimises CPU usage and improves processing times for the host applications. In addition, the Xtium2 offers an enhanced memory architecture to handle area and line scan, monochrome and colour cameras.
Teledyne DALSA Xtium2
High-performance, multi-interface frame grabber
The Xtium2 series uses the PCIe Gen3 x8 platform to enable high-speed image transfer to host memory without CPU overhead. Taking full advantage of the PCIe Gen 3.0 platform it uses PCIe x8 slots to deliver bandwidth up to 6.4 GB/s into the host memory. Xtium2 features CameraLink HS interface standards and supports Active Optic Cable and SFP+ modules, CoaXPress version 2.0 with 4 CXP12 input channels and CameraLink. The series offers models with either x1, x2 or x4 ports and supports monochrome, RGB and Bayer CXP 2.0 cameras.
Reasons to choose the Teledyne DALSA Xtium2 series
Xtium2 series comprehensive event notification includes start/end of frame/transfer. It provides camera control signals for external event synchronisation. Furthermore, 4-optically isolated inputs can be configured as trigger or general-purpose inputs. User applications can be controlled with the highest flexibility.
T2IR ensures the image capture process is controlled and monitored from the trigger point right the way through to the transfer onto the host memory. T2IR is a combination of hardware and software features that work together at a system level to improve the reliability of the inspection system. This prevents many errors before they happen and makes the system more reliable, which in turn delivers more uptime, more productivity, and lower costs.
The Xtium2-CLHS frame grabber models can connect either active optical cables (AOC) or low-cost LC-LC fibre cables to transfer image data over distances beyond 100 metres. Optical transmission is not susceptible to radiated emissions like copper media and simplifies compliance with radiated emissions regulations.
As a half-length PCIe Gen 3.0 x8 card, the Xtium2 offers the highest performance. The implemented CLHS protocol guarantees the transmission of trigger and GPIO signals with the lowest latency and jitter. The DMA memory layout is designed to make data reconstruction as easy as possible to fully exploit the capabilities of the CMOS sensors.
