Low light vision scientific CMOS camera

The Tucsen Dhyana series cameras are based on pioneering new scientific CMOS technology, which makes them particularly suitable for high fidelity, quantitative scientific measurements in low light level conditions.

ln general, CCD-based cameras offer high sensitivity but low frame rates. Conventional CMOS cameras offer very fast frame rates but compromise dynamic range and sensitivity. Scientific CMOS image sensors, on the other hand, simultaneously offer extremely low noise, high frame rates, wide dynamic range, high quantum efficiency, a high resolution and a large field of view.



Advantages of the Tucsen Dhyana

Back-illuminated sCMOS with high quantum efficiency

By using back-illuminated sCMOS thinned chip technology, light interference from the wiring layer of the sensor can be avoided. It also improves the light receiving area and thus the photoelectric conversion efficiency. The quantum efficiency exceeds 95% at 550nm, which cannot be matched by front illuminated sensors and is comparable to the sensitivity of an EMCCD.

Ultra low readout noise

The Dhyana400BSI achieves a key technological breakthrough in back-illuminated sCMOS, with a readout noise of less than 1 electron using CMS processing technology. This causes an unparalleled advantage with respect to the signal-to-noise ratio. With the built-in signal enhancement alogrithm the S/N ratio can be further improved. The Dhyana 95 is a 2048 x 2048 pixel, 24 fps sCMOS camera with a quantum efficiency of 95% at 560nm. Featuring a readout noise of 1.45e, this camera represents the first real challenge to EMCCD cameras, but with a much higher resolution. With an 11 micron pixel, this camera is a great fit in super resolution and high speed confocal systems, enabling higher level of productivity than previously possible.

In the field of high-end research microscopy, the pursuit of ever increasing camera performance is endless. In order to capitalise on the performance advantages of the camera, the application software plays a very important role. Tucsen has addressed these image processing needs with its all new Mosaic software package.

User costumisable interactive GUI 

The user-friendly interactive GUI, allows the user to customise the application interface according their specific application, including capturing and processing of images, measurements, storage and other functional modules.

Automatic image quality adjustment 

Mosaic uses Tucsen's image processing algorithm technology to create the ultimate image quality. With automatic white balance, automatic exposure, automatic colour level and other user-friendly features, even a new user can get professional looking images.

Real-time image preview to study fluorescence synthesis effects

Adjustments include colour temperature, gamma, brightness, contrast, saturation and sharpness. The image can be previewed in real time to observe the effect of the changes.

High speed lossless recording

With the raw lossless high speed video functionality, the camera can be used for live cell motion research and high speed shooting. Custom frame rate playback allows the discovery of previously undetected motion events.
