With the Piranha HS 12k, Teledyne DALSA combine their exceptional TDI line camera technology with the high performance of the HS Link. Over 1 GBytes/s can be transmitted via a single cable using this interface. The Piranha HS 12k offers the user a resolution of 12,000 pixels with a pixel size of 5.2 x 5.2 µm and a maximal line rate of 90 kHz. With 256 TDI stages, the camera achieves a maximum sensitivity of 300 DN/nj/cm² at 0 dB. At these values the Piranha HS 12k sets new standards for line cameras and indeed adds a new dimension to applications with poor illumination.
The recently introduced Piranha3 16k line camera is also based on the company's own CMOS sensor technology. This high-speed model offers a resolution of 16,000 image points with 3,5 µm square pixels and a line rate of 70 kHz. In terms of resolution and data throughput this Piranha model surpasses all existing DALSA line cameras: 1,146 MPixels per second is a new record which even goes beyond the scope of CameraLink. This is why Teledyne DALSA also utilises the HS-Link interface for the Piranha3 16k.
On the basis of the company's own CMOS technology with Analog-Digital- Conversion on the camera chip (ADC, Analog to Digital Conversion) and the so- called CDS (Correlated Double Sampling), the Piranha3 16k achieves unprecedented speed with low noise and a high dynamic range. Its performance is ideally suited for applications with high requirements for data rates, such as the inspection of large flat panel displays or PCBs.
