New 5MP ruggedised lenses for harsh factory environments

Ruggedised versions of the MPW2 series of C-mount 5 Mpixel ultra-low distortion machine vision lenses have been introduced by Computar. The new MPW2-R Series of lenses is designed specifically to withstand strong shocks, vibrations and huge variations in temperatures in demanding factory automation environments.

The rugged construction minimises image aberrations from shock & vibration. Key factors include bonding of all of the elements in the lens body, redundant focus locks with a double nut adjustment mechanism and a fixed aperture. Each lens in the range is available with a choice of 5 different aperture sizes. The lenses are capable of withstanding shocks up to 10G and operating in a temperature range from -10˚C to +50˚C.

The lenses are designed for use with 5 Mpixel, 2/3” sensors and provide full HD format. They are available in 8 mm, 12 mm, 16 mm, 25 mm, 35 mm and 50 mm fixed focal length versions to cover a wide range of close-up factory automation applications. These new lenses feature the same high performance optics used in the MPW2 series, but in a more compact housing. Sizes range from 28 x 35.17 mm to 32 x 45.46mm.
