CCIR

Comité Consultatif International Radio, earlier committee of the ITU, a subsidiary organisation of the United Nations based in Geneva and responsible for the development of telecommunications

Common name for the European standard for monochrome TV and equivalent to PAL and its predecessors. The CCIR standard also defines a TV image as 50 fields per second and 625 lines, but does not recognize a colour subcarrier.

In imaging, virtually all analogue monochrome cameras which conform to the European standards output a CCIR signal.
