Cabling: Track chain cables
Drag chains are a means to protect cables which are connected to a constantly moving mechanical part. The drag chain ensures that the cable’s minimum bend radius is not underrun.
If a standard cable is used in a drag chain, wire break can occur in very little time due to the high mechanical operational demands. The consequences range from errors in data transmission to complete breakdown of the cable.
Track chain cables are tested with special movement tests (flex test and flexing cycle test) in order to secure that they fulfil the demands of the application.
Robotic cables are also suitable for use in track chains as they undergo the same tests as mentioned above.
