Vision systems

A 'Vision System' is defined as a prebuilt solution that is ready to configure and deploy, containing the sensor, processor and software. While generally used to automate manufacturing and secure product quality, the use of vision systems in non-industrial applications such as medical, traffic, sports or entertainment is becoming common.

Imaging systems are built up from many different components including optics, illumination, cameras and software. The selection and matching of components from a technical and cost point of view is of major importance in creating the optimum solution. In addition, other aspects of the application need to be considered such as environmental requirements, integration constraints of the final machine, or the definition of how the user will interact with the system. Close liaison with the customer is critical.
