Imaging faster than the human eye

Print & packaging

Printing speeds have long since overtaken the human eye. Today, high-performance imaging reliably monitors printing processes, avoids production rejects and maintains quality in packaging and labelling.

Four stages of machine vision in industry

08/11/2019

Machine vision is a well-established technique across a host of industries, improving quality and efficiency in the manufacturing and processing sectors. Its ability to make inspections reliably and at speed 24/7 makes it an invaluable enabling technology in quality control. Technological advances in machine vision continue to be made rapidly, opening up more and more possibilities.

High resolution trilinear colour camera reduces integration costs

10/09/2019

Teledyne DALSA’s new Piranha4 8k trilinear colour camera offers improved colour imaging at a lower cost using Teledyne e2v’s latest CMOS 8k trilinear sensor. Independent exposure control for each channel for uniform image brightness and an ASCII command or an advanced GenICam-compliant interface makes the camera easier to setup, control, and integrate into high resolution application sub-systems or OEM solutions. Application areas include printing, PCB, electronics, film, and large format web inspection.

Two image processing stations for fault-free aluminium trays

11/09/2019

Aluminium trays are used worldwide in a wide range of shapes for packaging food. Novelis Deutschland GmbH, with the help of the system integrator, Industrielle Sensorsysteme Wichmann GmbH (ISW), and based on machine vision components from STEMMER IMAGING, has produced a two-stage inspection system to check the quality of the trays.

Label inspection at up to 350 metres per minute

20/11/2018

Systems with an extremely high performance are required in order to inspect labels or other printed web goods and detect faults with 100% reliability at speeds of up to 350 metres per minute. AB Graphic produces such machines and in doing so uses imaging components from STEMMER IMAGING.

Heat-sealed joint inspection with hyperspectral imaging

07/09/2018

Bergader Privatkäserei, established in 1902, relies on state-of-the-art technology as well as traditional craftsmanship in the manufacture of its cheese specialities. A hyperspectral imaging system is being used for the first time for the packaging of the blue cheese ‘Bergader Edelpilz’.
