3D cameras

3D cameras allow three-dimensional information to be captured from target objects. This is carried out by a number of methods including Laser profiling, fringe projection, stereo imaging or time of flight.

3D line profile cameras

When used in conjunction with a line generator, such as a laser, these 3D line profile cameras use the principle of laser triangulation to calculate the height information from the deformation of the line profile.

3D fringe projection

Using 3D fringe projection, the whole surface of the sample is acquired at once, projecting a stripe pattern to the surface that is recorded by a camera perpendicular to the surface.

These 3D laser profile sensors contain a precalibrated laser line projector and camera in a single unit, for quick deployment. The systems use the principle of laser triangulation to calculate the height of objects that pass under the line projected.
