CVB GenICam Browser now available as an acquisition tool in Open eVision Studio

Open eVision Studio 26.02 adds the CVB Common Vision Blox 15.00.003 GenICam Browser directly to the Studio tool catalogue, connected via a fully integrated, bidirectional StudioLink.

CVB Common Vision Blox is STEMMER IMAGING's hardware, vendor- and platform-independent machine vision SDK, focused on image acquisition — connected to Open eVision Studio via StudioLink.

Engineers can discover devices, review live images, and configure camera parameters in the GenICam Browser, then stream directly into Open eVision Studio without any additional setup. This extends acquisition beyond eGrabber-supported hardware to any GenICam-compliant device, including USB3 Vision cameras via the CVB Generic Driver.

What this means in practice:

Broader hardware compatibility

USB3 Vision devices and other interfaces outside the eGrabber scope become accessible through a CVB driver connection, removing hardware restrictions when evaluating or prototyping with GenICam-compliant cameras.

Bidirectional StudioLink

The GenICam Browser can serve as a live image source inside Open eVision Studio; equally, a fully configured camera in the GenICam Browser can launch directly into the Studio, keeping the evaluation workflow in one place.

License-free during prototyping

An evaluation license is built in and automatically active when Open eVision Studio is installed

Questions about implementation or production licensing? Our machine vision specialists are ready to help you succeed with Open eVision.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is the New Open eVision Studio really completely free?

Yes, all Studio applications are completely free with no time limitations or functionality restrictions. Download and you can evaluate all libraries, create complete prototypes, and generate production code without any licensing requirements. Production licenses from STEMMER IMAGING are required only when deploying the generated code in commercial applications.

Which Studio application should I start with?

For general machine vision applications, start with the Main Open eVision Studio which provides access to all libraries through visual workflows. If you're specifically working with AI, use Deep Learning Studio for dataset creation and training. For 3D applications, the 3D Studio provides specialised calibration and point cloud tools. You can install and use all Studio applications simultaneously.

What programming languages are supported for code generation?

New Open eVision Studio generates code in C++, C# and Python. The generated code includes all necessary library calls, parameter settings, and workflow logic, allowing direct integration into your development environment.

Can I perform measurements in physical units through Studio?

Yes, when using calibrated setups, libraries like EasyGauge support measurements in physical units (mm, inches, etc.) with sub-pixel precision. Studio provides calibration tools and visual feedback to ensure accurate dimensional analysis for quality control applications.

When do I need to purchase production licenses?

Production licenses are required only when deploying your applications commercially. Studio allows unlimited evaluation and prototyping. Once you're ready to integrate the generated code into applications for end users, you'll need to purchase licenses for the specific libraries used in your implementation.

What platforms does Studio support?

New Open eVision runs on Windows 10 and 11, 64-bit architecture as well as Linux x86-64 (64-bit) and ARMv8-A (64-bit) processor architectures. The generated code can be deployed on the same platforms with optimisation for modern multi-core processors.

Which cameras are supported with the CVB GenICam Browser in Open eVision Studio 26.02?

Any GenICam-compliant device is supported, including USB3 Vision cameras via CVB. This extends acquisition beyond the eGrabber-supported hardware scope.

Do I need a separate CVB licence to use the GenICam Browser in Open eVision Studio?

No. An evaluation licence for the GenICam Browser is built in and automatically active when Open eVision Studio is installed.

What is the StudioLink in Open eVision Studio?

StudioLink is a bidirectional connection between the CVB GenICam Browser and Open eVision Studio. It allows engineers to use the GenICam Browser as a live image source within Studio, or to launch a configured camera session from the GenICam Browser directly into Studio keeping the entire evaluation workflow in a single environment.

What changed in Open eVision Studio 26.02?

Version 26.02 adds the CVB Common Vision Blox 15.00.003 GenICam Browser to the Studio tool catalogue via a bidirectional StudioLink, enabling access to any GenICam-compliant deviceincluding USB3 Vision cameras via CVBbeyond the eGrabber ecosystem.
