PHORTE Fibre Extenders & SWIR Vision

In this month edition:

  • PHORTE CXP-12 Fiber Extenders – CoaXPress data over kilometres, no copper limits
  • Jai Wave WAA – Visible and SWIR imaging from one sensor, one camera
  • LINOS Rodagon 2.0/25 SWIR – Stable focus across the 840–1900 nm spectral rangeentire SWIR band
  • Vision 2026, Stuttgart – Save the Date

Phrontier PHORTE PHE4Q & PHE4S Series

4-channel CXP-12 speed and CXP-over-Fibre, with reach up to 10 km

Cameras running at CXP-12 speeds are normally tied to short copper runs, limiting where they can be placed on a line. The new PHE4Q and PHE4S PHORTE fibre extenders push that reach out to 10 km, letting engineers position cameras far from the frame grabber without giving up bandwidth, while simplifying cabling and reducing hardware requirements.

  • CoaXPress 2.1 and CXP-over-Fibre support at bit rates up to 12.5 Gb/s keeps full CXP-12 bandwidth intact over the extended fibre run.
  • No separate power supply – supports the PoCXP function to supply power to the camera and receive power from the frame grabber, simplifying cable runs.
  • Plug-and-play operation with no configuration needed, plus UART and LED status indicators gets the link running as soon as it is connected and visible.
  • Matching the extender to existing fibre infrastructure – PHE4Q's QSFP+ modules use MPO connectors, while PHE4S's SFP+ modules use LC simplex connectors.

Jai Wave WAA

One InGaAs sensor for visible and SWIR imaging, from wafer inspection to recycling

Detecting material differences and hidden defects often means running two cameras and merging two images, adding cost and complexity to a system. The Jai Wave WAA area scan camera captures both visible and SWIR information, from 400 to 1700 nm, on a single InGaAs sensor.

  • Extended sensitivity beyond the visible range surfaces defects, material differences, and hidden features that standard cameras miss, improving inspection reliability.
  • Integrated thermoelectric cooling holds sensor temperature steady, so dark noise stays low and dynamic range stays consistent across long production and inspection runs.
  • GigE Vision interface and C-mount lens fit standard machine vision setups, keeping the camera easy to specify into existing system designs.
  • Broad spectral sensitivity supports wafer inspection, recycling sorting, seal inspection, and laser beam profiling from the same camera platform.

Focus-stable imaging across 840–1900 nm

Wavelength-dependent focus shift can reduce sharpness and measurement consistency across spectral bands. The LINOS Rodagon 2.0/25 SWIR lens holds a stable focus across the entire 840–1900 nm range, pairing an F2.0 aperture with high SWIR transmission for bright, high-contrast images.

  • F2.0 aperture shortens required exposure times in low-signal SWIR conditions, helping maintain throughput on fast-moving lines.
  • 18 mm image circle supports 1.1" SWIR sensors, enabling effective use of the entire sensor area.
  • Uniform performance from centre to edge helps maintain consistent image quality, supporting consistent measurement across the full field.
  • Compact full-metal housing, 36.2 mm long and weighing 70 g, with LINOS Modular Focus compatibility fits space-limited setups in food, pharma, solar cell, and waste sorting inspection.
